The Government of Angola has allocated a 20-hectare site in the Malange region for the NPK plant.

The preparation system supplied by Eirich to the St. Thomas facility includes material handling, structure, solids and liquid delivery, batching, Eirich intensive mixers, environmental, controls, a process control system and more.

Western Australia's Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation will provide project facilitation assistance to the project.

Weir Minerals is providing both primary and secondary concentrate screens which will be used for the granulometric separation in the initial phase of the crushing, grinding and desliming processes.

The project will have an initial estimated investment of approximately US$2.4 billion during the first phase to develop a 2.5 million t fertilizer production unit, combining urea and NPK/NPS products.

Construction works for the Standard Grade SOP component of the plant are currently 98.1% complete.

The bulk sample is currently enroute to the International Fertilizer Development Centre headquarters in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, US, for blend and granulation optimisation, field, and greenhouse trials.

The proceeds will be used to fund the purchase of long-lead items and other site infrastructure, including power supply, at the company’s Muga Potash Project.

The microgrid for the Lake Wells sulfate of potash project will be developed in a staged approach, with the thermal component to be completed within circa 15 months of Australian Potash making a final investment decision.
