Kalium Lakes Ltd has recently announced that it has appointed Antony Beckmand as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Robert Mencel as General Manager Operations.

Highlights

  • Antony Beckmand has been appointed as CFO.
  • Robert Mencel has been appointed as General Manager Operations.
  • The appointments follow a significant period of change which has included:
    • Renewal of the Board.
    • Change to the company leadership.
    • Election of a new Chairman.
    • Strengthening of Kalium’s management team through the appointment of several critical new roles.

Chairman, Stephen Dennis, said: “Kalium Lakes is now driving forward with renewed vigour and these senior executive appointments reinforce the company’s capacity to deliver the Beyondie Sulfate of Potash (SOP) Project on time and on budget. Following a period of considerable change, we are now better placed than ever before to become a successful Australian producer of SOP.”

Beckmand is a qualified Certified Practicing Accountant with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and holds a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia. Antony has more than 20 years’ experience in the mining industry in Australia and overseas with a background in iron ore, mineral sands, base metals and gold.

He has held executive management positions with Sydvaranger, Northern Iron and Minas de Alquife, as well as financial roles with Exxaro Resources, Perilya Ltd and Robe River Iron Associates. Antony is also a non-executive director of Nordic Mining ASA.

Mencel is an engineering and mining executive with more than 25 years’ experience developing and operating a wide range of mining, mineral processing and engineering operations.

He was previously the CEO for RONPHOS Corp., the Republic of Nauru's Phosphate company, where he was responsible for production and export of phosphate to customers throughout Asia and the Indian Pacific region.

It is anticipated that Beckmand will officially start his role with the company in mid-November and Mencel has, following the completing of his mandatory COVID-19 quarantine period on arrival in Western Australia, commenced work with the Operations Team at the Beyondie SOP Project.

CEO, Rudolph van Niekerk, commented: “The fact that Kalium Lakes has been able to attract senior executives of the calibre of Antony and Robert speaks volumes for the quality and potential of the Beyondie SOP Project.

“The executive team remains absolutely focused on the successful delivery of high quality SOP to the Australian agricultural sector and these appointments will ensure that our experienced and close-knit team is at full strength to achieve that goal,” he said.
