The Executive Board of Petrobras unanimously approved the initial measures for the revitalisation and future resumption of operations at the fertilizer factory Araucária Nitrogenados S/A – ANSA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the company. The plant, located in Paraná, has been in hibernation since 2020.

Located next to the Presidente Getúlio Vargas Refinery - REPAR, ANSA has a production capacity of 720 000 tpy of urea and 475 000 tpy of ammonia, in addition to 450 000 m³/y of automotive liquid reducing agent (ARLA 32).

In view of the review of the company's strategic guidelines approved last year, investment in fertilizer production was once again part of Petrobras' portfolio. In the first phase of this re-entry into the sector, the strategy has been to reconfigure and consolidate viable operations in assets that already belong to the company.

In relation to ANSA, the Executive Board approved the negotiation with former employees, and with the superior labor court (TST), of the terms of employment; and the beginning of procedures for contracting maintenance services and critical materials related to the resumption of the industrial plant.

Both labour agreements and the carrying out of bidding and hiring were subject to a new deliberation by the Executive Board, when the procedures are well defined. Furthermore, the Petrobras Board of Directors recommended that ANSA carry out field work, seeking to optimise the scope of the scheduled shutdown and assess the integrity of the equipment.
