The new Lemmon operation offers potash, phosphorus, urea and ammonium sulfate nutrients.

CHS Country Operations has opened fertilizer processing plant in South Dakota. The plant in Lemmon began operations in April 2016 and has a 15 000 t fertilizer holding capacity. The facility replaces a smaller CHS operation. The former operation is to be converted into a feed processing facility.

The new Lemmon operation offers potash, phosphorus, urea and ammonium sulfate nutrients.

“Precision agriculture is driving the demand for customized fertilizer blends,” Delane Thom, General Manager of CHS Southwest, said. “Farmers understand their own soil and fields, and they recognize that using a fertilizer blend formulated specifically for their growing conditions is one of the most important strategies to optimize their yields.”

The fertilizer equipment technology was provided by GSI’s InterSystems brand.
