The study was conducted in collaboration with groups such as the Port of Belledune, utilities and construction, as well as with phosphate experts from SNC-Lavalin SA Brussels and Prayon Technologies, which were responsible for the testing and production of phosphoric acid. The main conclusion to be drawn is that Arianne's igneous phosphate concentrate reacted extremely well during the process and was able to produce 60% P2O5 phosphoric acid merchant grade acid (MGA) unlike the MGA usually sold in the market of 52%. It should therefore be able to be sold at a higher price. In addition, because of the high quality of Arianne phosphate concentrate, the gypsum byproduct produced during the acid production process could have commercial value, as opposed to the contaminated products typically generated by the use of the product.
"These tests should now allow us to continue discussions with several groups who have expressed interest in the possibilities of a phosphoric acid production facility," said Jean-Sébastien David, Chief Operating Officer of Arianne Phosphate. "With the right partner, the installation could have many benefits. Control of one's own source of phosphate rock would provide a certain economic benefit while allowing for increased security of supply. In addition, it would also provide a buyer for about 40% of our own mineral production."
On the basis of this study, Arianne will now examine the suitability of a phosphoric acid production plant and continue discussions with potential partners to assess the strategic and economic advantage of this approach. "The logic of partnering with another entity for the construction of a phosphoric acid production plant is real and the conclusion of this preliminary study confirms our basic assumptions," concluded Brian Ostroff, CEO, Arianne Phosphate.
