OCP S.A. and Fertinsgro Biotech S.L. announce the establishment of a joint venture in Jorf Lasfar for the production of enhanced fertilizers

The 50/50 Joint Venture, named OCP-Fertinagro Advanced Solutions, will be located in Jorf Lasfar (Morocco) and will have an initial annual capacity of 250 000 t of specialty NPK fertilizers by 2020, with room for extension to up to 1 million t of further ranges of enhanced plant nutrition solutions, tailored to specific farming conditions and crop requirements. The Company also intends to set up advisory services to farmers, capitalising on both companies deep experiences in the field.

“This Joint Venture anchors the ambition of both partners to sustainably address the growing demand in enhanced and “technology” fertilizers, and to expand their offerings to farmers worldwide, in terms of customised products and services. It is in direct line with OCP’s farmer centricity strategy”, said Marouane Ameziane, Executive Vice-President Strategy & Corporate Development at OCP Group.

“Through OCP-Fertinagro Advanced Solutions we shall combine industrial flexibility and competitiveness with innovation and agronomic services for farmers. In line with this, we are going to develop new industries, products and solutions in agriculture with a global joint vision to achieve a more sustainable world", said José Luis Moya, General Manager at Fertinagro Biotech.

This Joint Venture is formed a couple of months after the larger strategic investment by OCP Group in Fertinagro Biotech closed on October 2018, materialising the commitment of both parties to focus on innovation and the promotion of customised plant nutrition solutions to farmers worldwide.
