Pupuk Sriwijaya to build fertilizer factory in Palembang

PT Pupuk Sriwidjaja Palembang (Pusri), as a subsidiary of PT Pupuk Indonesia (Persero), realised the construction of the Pusri IIIB factory project by signing the funding credit and engineering procurement construction ( EPC ) agreement for the Pusri IIIB project.

Funding for the Pusri-IIIB project is carried out through a Syndication mechanism consisting of 8 state-owned and private companies, namely Bank BNI, Bank Mandiri, Bank Central Asia (BCA), Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), Bank Indonesian Sharia (BSI), Bank Jabar Banten (BJB), and Bank Sumsel Babel (BSB). The total value of Investment Credit (KI) disbursed is IDR. 9317 trillion.

President Director of Pupuk Indonesia, Rahmad Pribadi stated that Pupuk Indonesia and its subsidiaries have a strong commitment to supporting food security and the national economy. According to Rahmad, the revitalisation of Pusri 3B will utilise the latest production technology, so it is hoped that it can increase the reliability of fertilizer production.

"We welcome state-owned and private banks who are committed to funding this revitalisation project. In this way, the old Pusri-III and IV factories will be replaced with the Pusri 3B factory with new technology. "So that we can increase operational excellence," said Rahmad.

The Main Director of Pusri in his speech said that the construction of the Pusri-IIIB factory will be built at the PT Pusri complex, in Palembang, with low energy technology which can help save natural gas consumption and is environmentally friendly. The Pusri-IIIB factory revitalisation project will have a positive impact on the regional and national economy. The reason is, this project will open up jobs, increase regional income, and open up other economic opportunities.

The production capacity of the Pusri IIIB Factory is planned to be 1350 tons of ammonia per day or 445 500 tpy and for urea fertilizer it will reach 2750 tpd or 907 500 tpy. In terms of energy use, the Pusri IIIB Factory is more efficient because the energy ratio for producing urea is 21.97 MMBTU/ton while ammonia is 32.89 MMBTU/ton.

"The presence of the Pusri-IIIB Factory is our commitment to maintain the availability of fertilizer in all Pusri fertilizer distribution areas. "As well as our support in maintaining the sustainability of a reliable and competitive industry to achieve national food security," said Pusri Main Director, Tri Wahyudi Saleh.
