World Fertilizer,
It has been announced that Myno Carbon has been awarded US$20.4 million from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Fertilizer Production Expansion Program to build a large-scale biochar carbon removal facility (CRF 001) in Port Angeles, Washington. As currently envisioned, CRF 001 will convert sustainability sourced waste biomass into approximately 20 000 dry t of renewable carbon products for agriculture and environmental remediation.
For agriculture, the facility will significantly expand deployment of biochar-enhanced fertilizers that improve crop yields, enhance water retention, reduce nutrient loss, and promote climate-smart farming. Myno’s product line includes micronised biochar that is formulated for liquid fertilizer markets. These products enable targeted, effective application to the crop root zone for enhanced soil health and crop productivity and seamlessly integrate with existing fertilizer systems for application efficiency.
The facility is advancing scalable, profitable carbon removal through strategic co-location with feedstock suppliers. These CRF facilities reduce greenhouse gases while producing valuable products, renewable energy and renewable carbon products. CRF 001 will also bring valuable economic and environmental benefits to Clallam County, recognised as a 'disadvantaged community' by the US Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool. CRF 001 will create jobs, repurpose regional biomass waste streams, increase the supply of regional climate-smart fertilizer products, and support local climate resilience. Myno’s facility also will set the stage for additional facilities to compound climate improvements.
Myno is proud to set new standards in sustainable agriculture and carbon removal and look forward to advancing climate-smart practices that empower growers, strengthen communities, and drive meaningful climate impact.
