Argus Media is reporting that Polish fertilizer production continued to rise strongly on the year in April, government data show.

The data provided by Argus is in terms of nutrient rather than product, t. Output of nitrogen, phosphate and potash nutrients increased 15% on the year and 1% on the month as they reached a combined total of 278 000 t in April. Poland produced nearly 1.09 million t of these three nutrients in January–April, an 11% y/y increase.

In April, production of nitrogen rose to 198 000 t, a rise of 13% on the year and by 1% on the month. January–April production hit 768 000 t, a y/y increase of 9%.

In terms of nutrient content, April production of phosphate-based fertilizers rose by almost one third y/y, and to nearly 44 000 t, a 6% rise on the month. The four-month total was up by 22% y/y, to 169 000 t,.

Output of potash as a nutrient rose by 9% on the year, but was steady on the month, at 36 000 t in April. January–April production saw an 11% rise as it reached 149 000 t.

Polish demand for fertilizers strengthened in mid-February after an inactive start to the year, before the market quietened again in April, with buyers well covered.
