Belarus has signed a 1 year contract to supply 450 000 t of potash fertilizers to Bangladesh, the press office of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus confirmed in a statement.
The council's chairman, Mikhail Myasnikovich, met with a delegation of the Agriculture Ministry of Bangladesh and senior officials of the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC).
Yelena Kudryavets, General Director of Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) and BADC Chairman Fazle Wahid Khondaker signed the contract.
The statement said: "Belarusian potash fertilizer is highly sought-after in Bangladesh,” BPC's share of the country's market exceeded 40% in 2018.
“The fact that both are state companies and act on behalf of their own countries enables us to work together at a strategic level and forms a solid foundation for partnership between BPC and BADC," the statement continued.
Exports of Belarus agricultural and road machinery to Bangladesh and the possibility for stepping up imports of textile goods from Bangladesh were also discussed at the meeting.
