Jacobs completes Wa'ad Al-Shamal phosphate contract

Jacobs has completed engineering, procurement and contract management, and construction management services for the utilities and infrastructure of the US$8 billion phosphate complex in Wa’ad Al-Shamal, Saudi Arabia.
Ma’aden Wa’ad Al-Shamal Phosphate Co. (MWSPC) selected Jacobs for this job after the successful completion of the bankable feasibility study (BFS) and FEED for the complete facility. The company has now begun production at its new facilities.
Jacobs delivered both the studies and the EPCm project through its global integrated delivery model. At peak times, 350 employees were simultaneously involved in developing the studies, with over 400 employees delivering EPCm for the project. All engineering work has been performed in Jacobs’ High Value Execution Centre in India.
MWSPC is a joint venture of Ma’aden, The Mosaic Company and the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC), to develop one of the largest phosphate facilities globally.
“The teams did an excellent job in the safe and timely delivery of the utilities and infrastructure at MWSPC’s new facility. While it was the last project to be awarded, it was also the first of all the EPCm packages to be completed, and maintained an excellent safety record of 21.3 million safe man-hours without any lost time,” said Gary Mandel, Jacobs President Petroleum and Chemicals during the execution of the project.
