Chief Financial Officer of Itafos steps down

Itafos has announced that Rafael Rangel will resign as Chief Financial Officer effective immediately in order to pursue other opportunities.

George Burdette has reportedly been appointed Chief Financial Officer effective upon Rangel’s departure.

Chief Executive Officer, Brian Zatarain, said: “We thank Rafael for the contribution he made to Itafos during his tenure.

“With the acquisition of the Conda Phosphate Operations and GB Minerals Limited, Itafos is well-positioned to continue the implementation of its strategy of building a pure-play phosphate fertilizer company. Mr. Burdette is the right person to join our leadership team as we enter this new phase of growth.”

Burdette joins the company with more than 12 years of experience in corporate development, financial, commercial and investment management. He has led or supported over US$8 billion of acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and financings in the US and various emerging markets. Before joining the company, he served as head of Americas project finance at First Solar, where he was responsible for project financing and commercial initiatives in the US, South Africa and Latin America. Before First Solar, Burdette had experience in private equity and corporate positions at both Zaff Capital and AEI, covering corporate development, financings and enterprise risk management working together with Brent de Jong (Chairman of Itafos) and Brian Zatarain (Chief Executive Officer of Itafos). Burdette holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Business and French from Wofford College, as well as an International Master of Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.
