Eirich Machines is supporting a project by Pursell and Sollio Agriculture to build a fertilizer coating plant in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada.

The new plant will break ground in autumn 2021 and is expected to become operational in August 2022. It is dedicated to the production of advanced controlled-release fertilizers (CRFs) and will produce up to 100 000 t once full capacity has been reached. According to the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), the use of CRFs could reduce by 20–30% the recommended rate of a conventional fertilizer while achieving the same yield.

Pursell, which opened a fertilizer coating plant in Sylacauga, Alabama, US, in early 2018 has also initiated plans to open an additional plant in Savannah, Georgia, US.

The preparation system supplied by Eirich to the St. Thomas facility includes material handling, structure, solids and liquid delivery, batching, Eirich intensive mixers, environmental, controls, a process control system and more.

"We are extremely pleased to partner with industry leading companies such as Pursell and Sollio Agriculture, and we look forward to continuing our strong commitment and tradition of providing state of the art processing technology," said Matthias Erdmannsdoerfer, Managing Director at Eirich Machines. "This partnership shows our capabilities to provide the process knowledge and unparalleled support required to deliver complex processing plants in North America and around the globe."
