Yara Asia Pte Ltd (Yara Asia) has been awarded the ‘Sustainability Award 2020’ in the sustainable food and nutrition category by EuroCham, the European Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. This is the first sustainability award launched by EuroCham to recognise best practices in sustainable business conduct.

Yara Asia competed with companies such as ING, Alstom and Wipak for the award.

Fernanda Lopes Larsen, Executive Vice President of Yara Africa & Asia, said: “We are honoured to receive this award. Crop nutrition and the solutions we offer impact food and nutrition from earth to table.

“Our mission is to responsibly feed the world and protect the planet, so sustainability is at the core of everything we do in in Yara.”

Yara maintains that agriculture must be part of the climate solution. It aims to pursue sustainable value growth, and is developing climate-smart and high-yielding crop nutrition solutions for the world’s farming community and food industry.

“The farmer is at the centre of Yara’s efforts: for example, Yara’s FarmWeather application enables farmers around the world to deal with changing weather patterns due to climate change, while Yara’s FarmCare application makes comprehensive, crop-specific agronomic advice accessible for rice farmers. Technology enables us to digitally engage and support millions of farmers, and to improve the efficiency and sustainability of food production at scale,” Larsen continued.

“Specifically, in Singapore and Asia, we have significant resources dedicated to developing technology and digital solutions to address the major challenges facing global agriculture. Farmers around the world need better access to agronomic knowledge and markets, and Yara is committed to continue developing innovative, technology-driven solutions to empower them,” she concluded.

“We are honoured to receive this award. Crop nutrition and the solutions we offer impact food and nutrition from earth to table.”
