Fertiberia has begun a partnership with DuPont Sustainable Solutions (DSS) to further improve health, safety and environment (HSE) performance across the company.
With over 1400 employees and 14 operational sites in Iberia, Grupo Fertiberia develops and produces innovative solutions for agriculture. These include last generation fertilizers that have not only improved the competitiveness of the agricultural industry, but also facilitated the ecological transition of the sector – a critical part of the European economy. The company also produces environmental solutions such as AdBlue, which has reduced the footprint of NOX gases from diesel vehicles in Spain by 10%.
David Herrero, Industrial Manager of Grupo Fertiberia, said: “Fertiberia already has a very mature culture as it pertains to the protection of people and environment. This is the result of years of work across all levels of the company. However, our aim is to attain the highest level of performance, and to become a global reference in the industry. Given this, we have chosen to work with DSS – a company renowned for its expertise in HSE – to help us achieve our goals and provide innovative solutions. We will extend our efforts to improve safety to our vast network of collaborators and suppliers, allowing us to further strengthen our role as a catalyst for improved safety and sustainability across Spain. Even in the midst of the worst pandemic in our generation, we have decided to go ahead with this initiative because we are convinced that investing in safety will allow us to achieve our ambition of becoming the reference for excellence in our sector.”
An accident- and injury-free workplace is not only a strategic priority for the company, but also an essential part of its corporate values. It strongly believes that safety must be reinforced regularly, without compromise.
“Our partnership with DSS demonstrates the commitment and engagement of the management to continuously and consistently improve risk management and safety outcomes of the workforce," Herrero added.
Marcelino Garcia, Principal and Director of DuPont Sustainable Solutions in Spain and Portugal, commented: “DSS will deploy its best capabilities, our heritage as an owner-operator within the chemical industry and our know-how to guarantee the success of this project. In partnership with Fertiberia, we have built an in-depth program with multiple components to drive holistic change. These include a strong focus on management coaching – a programme entitled 'Leadership Transformation in Safety' – and the adoption of DSS Transform, our world class system for the digitalisation of HSE processes.”
