A collaboration between two labs at Northwestern University, partnering with the University of Toronto, has found that producing urea using electrified synthesis could both denitrify wastewater while enabling low-carbon-intensity urea production.

The AGRF Summit 2023, hosted a side event “Defining Africa’s Fertilizer and Soil Health Vision” that was held in Dar es Salaam. Among the participants was African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership.

Cinis Fertilizer has signed a long-term agreement with K+S Minerals and Agriculture GmbH (K+S) regarding the purchase and delivery of potassium chloride to Cinis Fertilizer’s first two production facilities in Örnsköldsvik and in Skellefteå, Sweden.

For its Burin Peninsula Green Fuels Energy Project, EverWind will convert renewable power from wind into green hydrogen and then into green ammonia. This will then be transported safely around the world and used as green fertilizer as well as a green energy.

The long-term trial was conducted by Yara, and studied the long-term effects of nutrient management in farming. The study concludes that balanced application of mineral fertilizer is part of sustainable crop production, with minimal environmental impact.

After announcing the allocation of €4 billion to stimulate the activation of low-carbon hydrogen projects, this visit was an opportunity to see the implementation of one of the projects that could apply for this new support mechanism.

The hydrogen will be used as a feedstock to produce green ammonia at an adjacent ammonia plant operated by Yara Pilbara Fertiliser Pty Ltd (YPF).
