The designed capacity of the UFN III plant, also known as Nitrogen Fertilizer Unit III, is 800 000 tpy of ammonia and 1.3 million tpy of carbamide.

The electrolyser plant will produce enough hydrogen to create 20 500 tpy of ammonia, which can be converted to between 60 000 and 80 000 t of green fertilizer.

Once completed, the plant will be a fully integrated, carbon-neutral facility, using solar and wind energy to produce 300 tpd of ammonia.

Instead of using fossil fuels such as natural gas to produce ammonia, the green fertilizers will be produced with ammonia based on renewable energy produced in Europe, such as Norwegian hydropower.

Including planned maintenance and unscheduled outages, Yara’s European ammonia production has been approximately 30% ( ~370 000 t) below capacity from September to November.

The ClearView digital platform is expected to be operational by early 2022.
