Phibro Group to start ammonia production in USA

The Phibro Group has scheduled decommissioning of the existing facility and is targeting a mid-2018 completion date for ammonia operations.

According to Integer Research, commodity company Phibro Group and Quasar Energy Partners plan to start ammonia production in the US MidWest. The partners have acquired SG Solutions’ existing coal gasification plant at Terre Haute, Indiana and plan to reconfigure the operation at a cost of US$450 million to produce 500 000 tpy of ammonia. The plant will use petroleum coke from Midwest refineries as a feedstock.
