Argus Media reports that CPDC, a Taiwanese importer, has signed its first annual ammonia supply contract for 2019 with Turkish trading company Raintrade. The cargoes will be sourced from Iran.
The exact volume to be supplied by Raintrade is confidential, though the firm last year supplied CPDC with around 120 000 t.
Argus Media states that "CPDC typically procures 330 000-340 000 tpy of ammonia through long-term contracts and a further 20 000-30 000 t through spot purchases. CPDC's negotiations are ongoing with trading companies Trammo, Yara, KPI, Sabic, Mitsui and Mitsubishi for the rest of its 2019 requirements. These contracts are expected to settle before the lunar new year holiday in early February".
