Dr Mustafa Madbouli, Prime Minister of the Cabinet, and his entourage, opened the Na Trans Fertilizers and Chemical Industries factory, during his tour in the integrated industrial heating zone of the Suez Canal Economic Zone, Egypt, to open several new industrial projects.
The factory specialises in the production of phosphate fertilizers and some related chemical products. With a current investment of US$10 million, the project is being built across and area covering 18 000 m2.
The company intends to implement future expansions on an additional 28 000 m2 with investments estimated at US$45 million, increasing production capacity to 375 000 tpy of phosphate fertilizers, alongside producing 120 000 tpy of sulfuric acid. This strengthens the production and export capabilities of the project, elevates its contribution to supporting the agricultural sector and maximising the Egyptian assets.
Mustafa Sheikhoun, Chairman of the Board for Suez Canal Economic Zone has stated that the production power of the factory is 100 000 tpy, providing approximately 140 direct job opportunities and 350 indirect job opportunities, within the scope of the industrial developer Egyptian Chinese Company for Investment (ECC).
The Prime Minister affirmed that the expansion of chemical industries reflects the country's direction towards building a more sustainable production economy, based on the development of value-added industries, providing production inputs to vital sectors, and foremost the agricultural sector. These factors strengthens the competitiveness of the Egyptian fertilizer industry, supports increased exports, and affirms Egypt's position as a regional hub for production and manufacturing.
The project is an important addition to the chemical industry sector within the Suez Canals Economic Zone and promotes the diversity of the industrial base in the region by polarising investments that serve the vital productive sectors, and at the forefront of the agricultural sector.
The head of the General Body of the Suez Canal Economic Zone added that the body aims to build an integrated industrial system that links essential chemical and nutrient industries, improving the efficiency of supply chains and strengthening the attraction of the Suez Economic Zone as a regional hub for industry and export.
