Repairs were carried out on the burner refractory system on the boiler, and were completed on 8 October. Following the work on the boiler, LSB determined that repairs on a process heat exchanger were required. The company’s management has determined that the repairs to the heat exchanger will be completed, and ammonia production will recommence, by 23 October.
In the statement, the company says that it is expecting to meet all customer commitments for sales in 4Q17, and estimates that the EBITDA impact resulting from the repair work costs and the reduced absorption of fixed costs related to collective period of downtime will be approximately US$2.5 million – US$3 million for the quarter.
LSB claims that it will provide an update on the progress of the repairs at El Dorado, and earlier announced Pryor repairs, and the impact of downtime on financial results once it reports its 3Q17 results later this month.
