Urea fertilizers play a critical role in modern agriculture, offering a reliable and efficient way to support crop growth. At Genesis Fertilizers, sustainability and innovation are central to the company’s mission, which is why they have partnered with Stamicarbon, the nitrogen technology licensor of NEXTCHEM (MAIRE Group), to incorporate their proprietary NX STAMI Urea™ technology into the proposed low-carbon fertilizer facility in Belle Plaine, Saskatchewan.

The technology integrates advanced reactor designs and energy-saving features that enhance operational efficiency and reduce emissions during urea production. This process transforms ammonia and carbon dioxide into high-quality urea melt with unparalleled precision and reliability.

The proposed facility will leverage Stamicarbon’s Adiabatic Flash technology, which minimises process steam consumption and optimises production efficiency. This translates to fertilizers with superior nutrient content, helping farmers improve yields and maintain soil health while meeting sustainability standards.

In addition to urea, the facility will include a diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) production plant with a capacity of 1500 tpd. DEF is essential for reducing NOX emissions in diesel engines and is compliant with ISO 22241 standards. The DEF technology allows for direct production from urea solutions, ensuring high quality and cost efficiency.
