According to news sources, Midwest Fertilizer Co. LLC has made progress with its plans to construct a US$2.8 billion manufacturing plant in Indiana, which is expected to create is to 185 new jobs by 2021.
Construction of the nitrogen fertilizer production plant is set to commence next year on 220 acres in Posey County. Expected to commence operation in 2022, the new facility could produce up to 2 million tpy of ammonia, urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) and diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). It will be a major source of US-produced fertilizer, reducing the need for nitrogen fertilizer imports from overseas.
Les Wright, President and CEO of Midwest Fertilizer Co, stated: “Midwest Fertilizer strongly believes Southwest Indiana is the right place to build our state-of-the-art fertilizer plant. We are extremely appreciative of the strong working relationship we have enjoyed with the state, as well as the overwhelming support from Posey County and southwest Indiana.”
