The SRTF has announced the delivery of 500 t of fertilizers to the Implementing Entity (IE) under its agriculture project, ‘Support Farmers for the Production of Wheat Crop in North Aleppo.’
The fertilizers will be distributed to 1000 wheat farmers to plant 2000 ha. of land. Such fertilizers provide increased nitrogen and phosphorus to wheat crops, which are essential for their growth as they enhance the protein content and size of the wheat grains, allowing farmers to yield better quality grains suitable for baking and milling purposes.
Other agricultural inputs, including agrochemicals and capacity-building training sessions, will continue to be provided to farmers throughout this project’s lifecycle, contributing to the overall aim of revitalising wheat production and improving food security and livelihoods in Northern Aleppo.
With a budget of €2.07 million, this project is expected to directly benefit 1000 farmers and their 5000 family members indirectly over 18 months (including six months for post-implementation monitoring and evaluation). An additional 45 000 individuals per month will also benefit from increased access to bread production from the increased availability of wheat.
