The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) has confirmed its participation in the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2017 (HLPF 2017).

IFA will bring a dynamic industry delegation to the event, including Tip O’Neill (International Raw Materials), Andrea Ulrich (PhosAgro), Clyde Graham (Fertilizer Canada), Scott Angel (International Fertilizer Development Center) and Doug Beever (Agrium).

The meeting will take stock of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and will review the following seven of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) in-depth: no poverty; zero hunger; good health and well-being; gender equality; industry, innovation and infrastructure; and life below water.

The event is being opened by Peter Thomson, President of the UN General Assembly and Frederick Musiiwa Makamure Shava, President of UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), among others.

“IFA is proud to be co-sponsoring the very first Agriculture and Food Day on 13 July, an unprecedented opportunity for stakeholders to connect and share ideas,” said IFA Communications and Publics Affairs Director, Yvonne Harz-Pitre.

“With over 600 attendees registered already, this year’s forum promises to be particularly exciting,” Mrs. Harz-Pitre observed. Leaders from business and government, alongside the heads of UN agencies, key international organizations, and civil society groups will come together to explore the role of business in delivering the 2030 Agenda.
